Description: One of the many great activities on offer in the Okavango delta is going on a mokoro. This is a shallow type of canoe that is propelled through the shallow waters of the delta or the river by standing in the stern and pushing with a pole. You are very close to the water and sit on the floor of the mokoro. It allows you to get very close to birds and animals due to being so quiet. On this day, we managed to get very close to this beautiful Pied Kingfisher. It was watching the water intently, waiting to dive down and get its meal. The sun was slowly going down, which lit up the kingfisher around the edges. I also like how it captured the spiders web on the branches.
