Title: Upupa Africana
Description: Upupa Africana is the Latin name for an African Hoopoe. These beautiful orange, black and white birds are very hard to photograph due to their speed and the fact that they don't like to be surprised by an oncoming vehicle. The African Hoopoe is hard to miss. Its distinct crown or crest of rich chestnut feathers with black tips makes this bird easily recognizable. Its plumage is rich chestnut with black and white stripes located at its wings and tail. When the African Hoopoe is surprised or alarmed, it raises its crests. We were very lucky to spot this particular one down in a valley resting on a branch. It was a very special moment to be able to photograph it.
